Stan goes flying almost

August 19th, 2009

Dad had been building a go-kart for the Gravity Grand Prix that will be taking place on September 13th in our village.  He has been building an airplane for the race while I was on holiday with Stan.  Now that we are back you can see what he has built.

Stan was excited because this was a very big airplane.

Stan goes home

August 15th, 2009

It was time to go home.  Stan was really disappointed that we had to go home because he wanted to stay longer.

Stan wants a hug.

On our journey home we went via Bornemouth to drop off George (who is in the back of the car with me).  His mum and dad have a flat there and he was going to stay for a week at the seaside.

It wasn’t long before we were home and finding out how dad had gotten on with building his go-kart.

The Spinnaker

August 14th, 2009

Spinnaker

We had a trip to the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, which is a really tall building in the shape of a sail.  You can go to the top to see the views around the harbour.  There was a pirate theme at the top with a “walk the plank” part to it with this view at the end of the plank. This is the view looking down from the gallery at the top, through the glass floor which was a bit scary for Stan. Stan really doesn’t like heights.

We enjoyed this a great deal.

Inline skate racing

August 13th, 2009

Dad entered a race which we decided to watch.  It was a marathon race, 26 miles around the Goodwood motor racing circuit on rollerblades.  We managed to get to the race track just before the race was due to start, in time to see him warming up.

There were hundreds of people there all getting ready to race. At the start the fastest racers whizzed off with the slower ones still stuck on the line.

Dad managed to complete the race in 1hr and 38 minutes!

He finished 34th and we were very proud.

Stan goes skateboarding

August 12th, 2009

Stan was really scared as it was going to be his first time skateboarding in his whole life. We had told him of some of the things that he could do in a skate park.  He decided that it would be good to practice indoors first.

He soon got the hang of it and was able to manual (wheelie) quite quickly.  This is amazing as he is so light weight.

When we got to the park Stan managed to fall off the skateboard and split his trousers.  He was okay otherwise.

Stan goes kayaking

August 11th, 2009

Today Stan and I went kayaking in a estuary near the sea.  After half an hour Stan fell in the water and got extremely wet so he wanted to come out.  We had to paddle back to the shore with him dangling off the side of my boat.

As you can see from the photo, Stanley felt like he was on a bridge sitting on our paddles.  I am in the blue boat and my friend George is in the red boat.

Winning at everything

August 10th, 2009

Today we played adventure golf.  Although Stan is small and flat he has quite a lot of strength in him.

Here he is winning the golf having scored 18 points.

Later on we played Monopoly where I lost as Stan owned the board with hotels on all his property and he seemed to have all the money!

I am looking forward to a game that I can win!

Going to the beach

August 9th, 2009

Today Stan was very excited because it was his first time at the beach.

At the beach Stan sat on one of the groines which was covered in seaweed and manage to get a bit messy. We had to make sure that he didn’t slip down through the crack in the wood as we would have lost him.

We played in the sand and Stan wanted to be buried in the sand.  This was really easy for us as we didn’t need to dig a big hole as he is flat.

Off on holiday

August 8th, 2009

We are going to my cousins caravan in Littlehampton in Sussex.  This is near the sea and we hope to spend some time playing on the beach.

Stanley got very bored on the car journey so we decided to play a game of “Spot the yellow car”.  Stanley was too small to see out of the window.  But when we propped him up near the window he nearly flew out.  Luckily I managed to catch him.
